RACHEL MEDLEY
Rachel joined the WAN executive board in 2022, which has expanded her creative side while making friendships across the marine sectors. She has worked in the Ocean and Marine sector for more than 18 years. She began her career as a cartographer and then moved into hydrography, working in near shore navigationally significant areas to protect life and property. In 2018, Rachel shifted her focus from shallow water to the deep ocean. She currently works in facilitating the exploration of the world’s ocean. The deep ocean space has allowed her to work across a variety of sectors and disciplinary interests to build networks and align interests across seemingly desperate missions and objectives.
Rachel is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College with a BA in Geology. She also holds a Masters of Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in Geosciences. In 2009, she received her Masters in Ocean Mapping and IHO-Category A certification from the University of New Hampshire, Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping/Joint Hydrographic Center.
Outside of work she enjoys traveling and exploring the world with her husband and three children.
